Bedford Spares Made From 1931 to the Present Day

We supply parts for classic Bedford lorries (15cwt and above) and Coaches from the 1930’s to the 1980’s.

We have a vast stock of Bedford spares for the pre 1970’s range of trucks and buses which is either new old stock (Vauxhall Bedford Parts, Bedford Genuine Parts and ex government stock), reconditioned or second hand parts, or items we have had manufactured in the UK.

We estimate that we can supply approximately 90% of any mechanical, service, brake, electrical, exhaust or chassis parts and cab rubbers, for Bedfords built between the late 1930’s and the early 1960’s.

Please also ask about any of the larger and scarcer second hand parts, we have in stock. Such as bumpers, wings, front grilles, cabs, axles, petrol tanks etc. which have come from vehicles which have either been broken or scrapped over the years.

We also have workshop manuals professionally reprinted for many of the Bedford range.

Our History

It all started in the late 1970’s when John Morter, bought his first Bedford OY, the one pictured above. During it’s restoration, parts were bought from Bill Vince of Vince and Son, Ely and this started a long friendship between John and Bill.

John then worked alongside Bill for many years selling parts, manning stalls at shows and buying parts and vehicles together.

Vintage Military Vehicle Spares was founded in January 2000 by John; originally selling both Bedford and Austin spares, with many of these parts coming from Bill at Ely. John eventually bought the remaining stock from Bill in 2003.

Much of what we still sell today is new old stock which Bill bought from the Ruddington MoD sales, from the late 1940’s to the mid 1980’s.

We still have that same OY, which forms part of our collection of military and civilian vehicles from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. Many of which attend local shows, overseas trips and have been used for film and television work over many years.

John’s son Chris now owns and runs the business and hopes to continue for many more years… Supplying old fashioned parts with that old fashioned service.
